About Us

Dorothy Murdoch, owner of Pender Island Bakery Café, has been in the hospitality industry for 32 years, and has owned the bakery on Pender for the last 6 years. Expanding the bakery three years ago,  it has become the place to meet and relax on Pender.  Dorothy trained to cook in England, but never utilized her knowledge professionaly until she bought the bakery.  Now she enjoys planning and cooking the special theme evenings and working with Nora on the catering.

 

Dorian Wilde, Baker, has been with the bakery for 15 years.  Dorian’s love of  music goes back to Toronto where he played in a band.  This is were he also trained to cook.  After moving to Vancouver,he apprenticed with the bakery 15 years ago and has become expert in the field of baking bread.

 

Nora Broulotte, Pastry Chef, has 23 years of cooking experience, training under several seasoned chefs.  She specializes in Pastry, making the most beautiful and delicious wedding cakes  and cakes for all occasions.  She and Dorothy design and prepare wonderful dishes for weddings and private catering.

 

Karen Goldstraw, Retail Sales Manager,  has been with the bakery for the past four years, after moving from Vancouver.  Having learned all about sales and customer relations at Telus, Karen works with all the staff in making our customers feel welcome at the Bakery, and that we constantly have new and exciting items for sale.
